Texas: Port A with Pop & Nana

We finished up our 8 day trip in Port A! It was a lot less windy this year, so we were able to get in some much needed beach and boat time! Layla couldn't wait to get to the beach and enjoyed playing in the muddy sand and big waves. No fear from Marley, either, who we often had to corral from running straight into the Gulf! We made it to St. Joe's this year, as well, which is always a favorite of mine! Thanks to our Texas families for hosting us and to Shelley, Brian, Kade & Kenna for making the trek down to see us!!

Texas: Taft with Mimi

The first stop on our Texas adventure, took us to Taft, to visit with Mimi! It was a blazing 98 degrees with 150% humidity pretty much the entire trip, so we spent a lot of time in and around water...and in and around fans and air conditioning! The girls had fun splashing around in Mimi's little pool and heading out to the Children's Museum in Corpus!

Texas Girl

The always fashionable, Miss L, picked out a new hat for summer. Her choice? A new cowgirl hat!! Her Daddy was so proud!

Feeling HOT, HOT, HOT!

A couple of weeks ago, it was H.O.T! It was in the mid to high 90's, no breeze, and sticky! So, Shane and I (mostly Shane) rigged up our own poor-man's version of a water park, for the girls. I must say...it turned out pretty rockin'!

Memorial Day (Week)

The girls and I spent a week up north, while hubby stayed home to show the house (groan). We were able to visit my ole' stompin' grounds...City Park...where i use to play, as a kid! Swear to God, some of the play equipment is the same that it was 30 years ago!

We celebrated my...ahem...29th birthday with the folks, the girls, and julie & rich! Layla, who has been stingy with her attention to Uncle Rich, found out he's a pretty cool cat. They finally became besties this trip, much to Rich's likening.

The Aurora Cemetary put on a really nice Memorial Day Service. The girls and i went with Beba. I must say, "Taps", gets me every time!

Three

Toy Story was the theme Layla picked out this year...no surprise to anyone that spends any amount of time with her!! The buzz cake turned out better than i thought it was going to, but turns out it didn't matter. As soon as i simply started icing the sides, Layla said..."oh, mommy...it's beautiful!". I realized...that's all a little girl needs from her birthday cake...time with her mommy making it...and eating frosting at 6:30 in the morning.

We had a wonderful day (despite the arctic temps...wth?). Nona, Beba, Uncle Ross, Aunt Julie, and Uncle Rich came down for lunch (and buzz cake)...present opening...and a trip to Build-A-Bear for the birthday girl! No lie...she ASKED to go to bed at 7pm AND fell asleep in under a minute. We had a busy day and had been up since 4am (no that's not a type), so, can't say i blame her!

Thanks to everyone who made the trip and made my baby's day special. Three years...i can hardly believe i've had three years with this beautiful little girl. I'm a lucky mama. Happy Birthday, Baby. We love you so very much.
