Up North

Layla had her first solo get away this past week! (BIG THANKS to Nona and Grandpa!) On Memorial Day, they went to the service at the church cemetery, and Layla had her picture taken for the local paper! They went to Dairy Queen for lunch, and Layla spent the rest of the afternoon tormenting Maddy and Oscar!

The rest of the week was spent swimming, swinging, hanging out with Uncle Ross, GG, Aunt Bernice, and the rest of the Wisconsin/Michigan family! Layla did something fun and exciting every day...what a downer it must have been to come home (The "Grandparent Hangover", as Lis' friend calls it)!! The best part of the week (for me) was meeting in Appleton to pick her up. i got out of the car, and she came running toward me smiling, laughing, and yelling "MAMA!". She jumped up into my arms and gave me the biggest {HUG}! One of those moments that will be etched in my mind...forever.

May/June Birthdays

We road tripped up to Appleton on Saturday to celebrate Layla, Mommy, and Grandpa's Birthdays! It was gorgeous weather...our little fishy played in Auntie Julie's pool until she was a blue prune! Marley was just ecstatic there were more people to hold her! This was also the "Layla Exchange". It was her first week's trip up to Nona and Grandpa's house...all by herself. Sunday morning we headed back to Madison, and our baby headed north. (sigh) Admittedly, we were a little sad....

It's Been A Day...

NO sleep last night and NO nap today, culminates in to what you see here.

...and back to this. Layla spent a better part of her afternoon, here...in time out....mostly for tormenting her sister. Examples: Marley didn't want the binky Layla kept shoving at her, so she "kicked" (more like nudged) Marley's leg. This ended with Mommy issuing a timeout and Layla and Marley crying. Then, there were the various attempts at smothering. Weapons of choice: burp cloth, blanket, and my personal favorite....a rubbermaid lid. This ended with more timeouts, yelling from all three parties, and Marley flailing around like a bug that was stuck on its back. (groan)

Hyperventilated...heart attack...took this pic (in that order). I JUST went to change laundry over, for literally, 10 seconds. Marley FINALLY fell asleep in her crib (for the first time today), and Layla was in the living room playing with a puzzle. Up the stairs i came...noticed Marley's door open...SH*T!! The following is what i walked in to....she finally did it. She climbed in to a crib that didn't belong to her. Thankfully, Marley wasn't smothered (yet again) in the process. Though, she did wake up. (sob)

90 Degree Day!!

Whew...it's HOT! It hit 90 degrees here today!! We took a family walk to the park and Layla tried out her new Dora Quad Rider (thanks, MiMi!). Poor Marley didn't tolerate the heat very well, but at least we got out and enjoyed the sun for a bit! I think Shane and I are more of a cream, instead of stark white, now!

Toddler Bed!

We decided to switch Layla over to her toddler bed this weekend, seeing as how she's been honing her climbing skills, lately. It took about 45 minutes of ushering a crying toddler back to her bed, to get her to sleep (see pic below), on night one. However, the second night only consisted of 2 peeks into the hallway....and NO crying! Such a big girl...

Bouncy House!!

The Havilands have officially become the cool parents on the block!! They set up a Bouncy House in their backyard for Kendall and Dane's joint birthday bash! Layla loved it! Jumping was a bit of a challenge, so if she could actually stand up without falling over, she was one proud girl! Thanks for the great party Stacy and David!!

Play Date!

We had a play date today with some of my work peeps. It was great to see everyone and enjoy some warm weather! Not too many group shots of the kids, since they all kind of went their separate ways, but here are a few of Layla! BTW, this was a GREAT park. We're definitely going back!!
