Month 4

Our first family vacation marked this month. We had a wonderful Labor Day weekend getaway to Door County with Nona, Grandpa, and Uncle Ross. The first look at our water baby occurred on this trip. We couldn't get her out of the water!!

Month 3

First Brewer game, first trip to Texas, first day at daycare and packing on the pounds (thanks to rice cereal) made for a busy month! She loves getting out and about, which is how she is to this day. If she doesn't have a daily outing...she's a cranky monster! She was a trooper on her first plane ride, too....falling asleep DURING takeoff. That's our travelin' girl!

Month 2

Happy 4th!! Layla had her first car trip to Nona and Grandpa's house over the holiday, while Daddy was in Texas. It's funny...at the time i thought she was getting so big...she wasn't. She was still such a little bean. We had switched to our 10th different can of formula, to try and curb the colic, and made slight headway over the holiday. She stopped crying every second she was awake to maybe every other second! :-) However, our triumph was short lived...then the puking started. Oy Ve!!

Week 4

Things were startling to settle in at this point. She was sleeping (anywhere and in any position), eating (painfully gave up BF'ing), having more alert times, and just generally becoming content with her new neurotic parents. Oh...we were so naive...the very next day after the last picture was taken (Father's Day), she woke up with....The Colic. Life would never be the same...

Weeks 1 & 2

Errr...should we say NOT remembering week 1 & 2. The first few weeks were a blur of feeding, changing, and crying...that last one was mostly me. :-) We were in the hospital for 4 days (post c-section). The hospital stay was GREAT...i never felt better! Though, once we got home, it was a different story. a huge belly rash, 1 pleural effusion, and about 20 lbs of extra fluid build up later...there i was. pretty miserable...but it was wonderful having her home. shane and i couldn't have done it without my mom's help. she stayed for two weeks...basically taking care of me, while we took care of layla. i cried when she left...shocking, i know.

Layla's First Year

It's May.!! It's May!! On the 15th...our little bean will be ONE year old. We can hardly believe it!! It's been an amazing year filled with wonderful moments...and a few trying times (namely weeks 5-12--colic). Our posts until the big day will mostly be filled with those memories that were special to us. Enjoy!!

Coming into this world (screaming) at 8:34 a.m. on May 15th and weighing in at a whopping 5lbs 5 oz and 18 1/2 inches in length...is the beauty you see here. Stubbornly hanging on to Mommy's ribcage, she didn't want to come out at first...such a spitfire. From the start...she's done things her own way in her own time. i love that about her.
