Texas in Taft

We spent the first half of our Texas vacation in Taft with Mimi!  We spent one of the days at the Texas Aquarium, which came complete with a splash pad!  The girls loved it and it was a great place to "cool down"!  I don't have pics, but we also went to see "Despicable Me 2"!  Layla loved it!  Marley liked it too, but was happier with the boat-load of popcorn she was allowed to eat!  Clearly, it's way better than the popcorn we usually have at home!  We also fit in some shopping and a visit with Uncle Freddy and Aunt Linda!  Oh, and of course some good 'ole Mexican food at one of the many great local eateries!

Royal Birthday

We celebrated the birthday of one of Marley's besties, Abigail!  Boy, it was a hit with every little "princess" at the party.  Ariel and Cinderella made a surprise appearance and everyone (including the adults) were captivated.  It was such a great idea and Layla has been hounding me since to invite them to her party next year! 

MPA: Spring Dance

Layla had her first Spring Dance Performance at MPA!  She did a combo tap/ballet class this year, so they had 2 numbers to do.  They performed at Waunakee High School's Performing Arts Center.  The theater was HUGE...seating nearly 700 people.  We were so proud of our girl for performing her dances in front of such a big audience.  They did a great job, and she had a blast.  She can't wait for dance to start again in the fall! 

Hooray, Hooray...Last Day of 4K!!!

We made it!!  The last day of our first full year of school.  Okay, it was only morning school, but we went September to June...so, it totally counts!  We can't believe how much Layla has grown up and matured in the last several months.  She's really come out of her shell and according to her teacher she is kind, respectful, and a joy to have in class.  (She also won the award for the "Most Fashionable").  :-)  We couldn't have asked for more than that! 

 

 

Memorial Day Weekend

We headed up north to my folks for Memorial Day Weekend.  We had a great time getting pedicures, celebrating birthdays, and enjoying nice weather!   Of course, it wouldn't be a holiday, if someone didn't get hurt.  Poor Marley lost out to a croquet mallet swung by her big sis....who i think was just as traumatized.  A lot of blood, an ER trip, and 3 stitches later...all was well.  Happy Memorial Day!!

Layla is "5"

Layla finally turned a "whole hand"!  She tells us it's a super big deal...so we had a super big week!  She celebrated with her pals, the Saturday before her birthday, at The Little Gym, which was a smashing success.  All the kiddos had fun and i didn't have to do anything!!  We then brought cupcakes to her class on her actual birthday. 

 

Kindergarten Orientation

We went to Layla's Kindergarten orientation at her "new school".  She was so excited, but became a little intimidated once we were inside.  I think the words, "i want to go home" may have been uttered, but after a few minutes she rolled with it.  Here she is after breaking off by herself with some "friends" for a mini tour...so proud.
